This is about what I was thinking. Or something derived from backbone netflow data. Or
some log of IGMP traffic on a campus LAN.

Sounds like we really don't know how common multicast use is and what sources are popular.

Well, back when I was at the UofO I began feeding reqs to a student to
build a tool which logged OIF state at the campus border router and just
to track G's with active receivers. I don't know what ever became of it
though, sorry.
