There are still some vendors out there who don't think it is a
priority to implement IGMPv3 properly. I've mentioned one of them on
here before. Does anyone have any tips for convincing vendors of the
importance of SSM and IGMPv3 so that proper implementations will be
forthcoming before the decade is over?
Actually I pushed Content Providers to work on pushing the STB vendors into supporting SSM/IGMPv3. Mostly by explaining to them the benefits that could be achieved with regards to telemetry and actual individual viewing statistics. Of course this is not the holy grail and I'm skipping the privacy issues (anon statistics and so on) but a few did catch on to the concept and did understand the "marketing value" SSM/IGMPv3 could deliver.
