Then, there is no modern SAP server, it seems, that can be used by institutions that need one, especially for the more efficient H.264 codec. I accidentally created a nasty SAP storm a few weeks ago when I changed just a few parameters in miniSAPserver. It would be useful if I2, the Commons, or an institution could offer to host SAPs, even at a cost, for those of us that don't have the resources to set up a SAP server for just a few streams.

Hello Frank , all

thanks for your great effords in multicast research and testing, SAP is like you said a very handy tool to receive annoucements via videolan for example
and i can´t understand why it not beeing evolved and supported more . security issues maybe?

It would be useful to us to have an easier way to find multicast video, and we are not yet able to create SAPs for our H.264 streams,
which have twice the efficiency of the MPEG2 ones.

Since i get a tunnel setup with a FREE tunnel broker ( sixxs.net ) and installed a "dbeacon" on leopard with some help , i tryed to discover multicast without any luck yet.

The m6bone seems not longer connected with most of the POPs from sixxs <http://www.sixxs.net/pops/status/>

But anyway , since i am not able to come to such a meeting it would be great if someone could raise this issue here.

I really don't know what SSM is or Apple's position on it. This topic of this list is use of the Xcode development environment, and questions about Apple intellectual property issues regarding networking protocols is beyond the scope of my expertise and this list.

I see you also tried asking ipv6-dev (12/2006) and streaming-server- users (10/2007) and got no answers. You may want to escalate this to Apple Developer Connection if you need official word on SSM support in Leopard or alternatives to it.
