It's not clear to me that there's a reasonable business case for MLD support, especially from the perspective of IEEE 802 switch vendors.

In particular, MLD snooping requires IEEE 802 switches to recognize and decode IPv6 formatted packets. Due to the 2^96 : 1 mapping between IPv6 and Ethernet MAC multicast addresses, I'm afraid MLD snooping will actually require flooding decisions based on the IPv6 group addresses rather than the MAC multicast addresses.

To me, that seems an awfully high barrier to entry.
