Hello All;

Here is what I see about the RAMEN multicast attacks as of today :

0.) The last storm I know we received was at
*Jan 26 08:08:26: %SYS-3-CPUHOG: Task ran for 2700 msec (33/30), process =
MSDP Process, PC = 60A20AC0.

1.) The msdp rate limits we applied seem to be working reasonably well. This
means that it
is harder to monitor the storms from here - no CPUHOG messages. (The above
came through a tunnel,
which wasn't rate limited.)

2.) The Mantra pages

http://www.caida.org/tools/measurement/Mantra/

must filter out the msdp storms, as they show none since last
Monday, and I know there have been some since.

So we no longer have a good handle on the number of these attacks.

3.) MSDP acitivity is down :

Sat Jan 20 12:15:26 EST 2001
Total entries: 1667
# of AS's with sources : 102

Mon Jan 29 11:22:48 EST 2001
Total entries: 1428
# of AS's with sources : 79

4.) NLANR accessgrid status seems poorer :

Time: Sun Jan 21 09:36:15 CST 2001
8 out of 42 beacon receivers cannot see our beacon

Time:Mon Jan 29 10:42:16 CST 2001
14 out of 46 beacon receivers cannot see our beacon

So, although I have received NO reports of people taking multicast off the
air because of the storms,
I strongly suspect that this has indeed happened.
