If nobody provides a SLES box for building the packages using the build
service seems to be the only alternative. We're only using openSUSE, but
I've done some installations on SLES, too. In my experience openSUSE and
SLES are very similar, so testing on openSUSE probably should do - at
least for the initial SLES releases. I don't know whether the service
packs are based on openSUSE, maybe somebody with more SLES experience
can provide some information on this.
