I mean you have to both delete the old war and the old expanded tree if you
use the same war filename for the new version.

If you move it, that's ok, as long as you also delete the old warfile or
overwrite it with the new one.

If it had startup issues, I would guess it's more to do with the changes we
made to libraries in this release relative to 0.8, but
maybe not.

Unfortunately, I believe it's the former. This is the way J2EE really works.
I can't see any other ideal solution that doesn't
involve getting *all* of the configuration outside of the tree, which would
be the other solution, if it's possible.
