I just tried installing the current linux beta distro on a clean
RH7.3 machine and it worked just fine.  Here's what I did:

- boot up machine
- installed:
        libgcc-3.0.4-1.i386.rpm
        libstdc++3-3.0.4-1.i386.rpm
        apache-1.3.23-14.i386.rpm
        shib_target_beta1_rh72_gcc304.tar.gz   (dated 13 November)
- edited /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
        added /opt/shibboleth/etc/shibboleth/apache.config to the end
        changed LogLevel to "debug"
- edited /etc/init.d/httpd
        added this line just before the 'daemon' line in the start section:
                export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/shibboleth/lib
- made a "secured" web page
        mkdir /var/www/html/secure
        echo "This is a test" > /var/www/html/secure/index.html
- started httpd:
        /etc/init.d/httpd start
- started the shar:
        export SHIBCONFIG=/opt/shibboleth/etc/shibboleth/shibboleth.ini
        /opt/shibboleth/bin/shar

I then went at it with my mozilla and it all worked just fine.
