Hi Harald,

Under its present commercial license you will certainly not be able to incorporate Sun's code into another commercial product.

The opensso project that the saml2 toolkit may become part of, is licensed under Sun's new open source license CDDL that is derived from the mozilla license.

Information about this license can be found at http://www.sun.com/cddl/ and http://www.opensource.org/licenses/cddl1.php.

Hi Vandit,

One more question, are you aware of any alternate SAML 2.0 java implementation or toolkit? Either open source or commercial?

Sun's Access Manager is one of the few freely downloadable (albeit
commercial) products that offers SAML2 support. Also it contains a Java SAML2 toolkit, that seems to be usable independently from the product itself.

For the API see:
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-5211

On top of that Sun recently announced it is going to add the federation functionality (apparantly including saml) as part of the opensource "opensso" sister project.

See:

rt/identity.html

Cheers,
Andreas
