You might have a look at Tom Scavo's overview in the wikipedia as well, it's
very well done.

The truth is, there isn't much code here when you get right down to it. The
real problem is that people want me to document SAML, and I'm not really
into book writing. ;-)

I will say this. There's web SSO and simple queries with SAML (pretty easy)
and web services security with SAML (very hard). Think long and hard about
how much SOAP really buys you before you dive into the deep end.
