The "Subject API" really consists of 2 interfaces, Source and Subject. The Subject interface has methods to get the "id", "name", and "description" of a Subject object, ie, the interface specifies that Subject objects must have these properties. The *_AttributeType declarations tell the source adapter which back-end attributes or columns are these distinguished properties.
