Hi all - I really appreciate your thoughts and sentiments and will correspond with our hosts to see what we might do. One idea that John and Mary and I discussed yesterday was possibly a series of shorter webinar events over the next
months - one for the technology updates, then perhaps each of the panels as their own events – and this might keep a sense of overall momentum in the community. Honestly, it is something I think we should be doing more between workshops. Let me get a better
sense of what our hosts are thinking about your input. More soon.
Thank you for your support. I’m so sad I won’t be seeing all of you next month. :/ -Ann

Can I echo the sentiment that a one day online meeting would be a great idea to share some work - we could bill it as an interim event if we did indeed want to return
to having the full workshop later in the year.

Hi everyone,
Of course, all has been said at this point….we need to alter our plans. I would love for RPI (and the committee) to consider this postponed rather than cancelled. Mary, is there any chance this can be the narrative and would RPI consider
if we tried to reserve a date in the Fall?
That said, I would also love to see us have a robust day of online discussions/webinars….I feel with so many colleges and universities moving to restrict face-to-face classes, it could actually be an opportunity to draw a larger, less informed
audience into what we are doing….just riffing on what Jesper has articulated. Could be an opportunity if we can market to schools looking to fill content for courses…especially Music education and Pedagogy or Arts Technology courses. something to think about……
Above all, I wish all of you safety and well being. I so look forward each year to seeing all of you and having the great professional and personal exchanges. I always return with loads of ideas…so, hope we can have some kind of meeting….

I do like Jesper’s suggestion that we convene a meeting online for anyone interested. Maybe just a single day so that we can have a truncated conversation about recent developments and check in with everybody. If the group is inclined to
go that route, I’d be happy to help draft an agenda.
as we well know, a number of our activities cannot be done from remote, but other YES... so let's keep there ones (like Jesper suggests) and make them avilable for a "virtual meeting". I agree

Dear all
We were preparing for the same here in Copenhagen. So may projects have been cancelled/reorgannized and suddenly telepresence has become even more popular here, since we are supporting lots of projects that would have been cancelled due to travel restrictions...
Have you had any thoughts about trying to arrange some sort of online-event in stead for the parts of the programme where that would be suitable? Maybe we could still get together somehow online?
Hope that everyone and their families and colleagues will stay healthy
best wishes, Jesper

Hi Ann,
It was the right decision to take and I fully support you. It’s better to take it now. There is a clear risk because of the virus consequences, especially in old people, but also a risk of collapsing the sanitary systems with the virus circulating so fast.
We should not contribute to spreading the virus if we can avoid it. Many other meetings are being cancelled or postponed and most of the people are also not travelling because of company policies (I’m not allowed to travel either and I’m working from home
since today).
I would cancel at the moment. Then, if the virus disappears, we can consider organising our NPAPW in the fall or directly next year.
I hope you and all your families are ok.
Warm regards,
Maria Isabel Gandia Carriedo

Dear program committee members -
In light of the current circumstances related to the rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, and with New York declaring a state of emergency, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, our host for the 2020 Network Performing Arts Production Workshop (NPAPW),
has issued a cancellation of all events of 50 or more.
John Kolb, Mary Simoni and I had a chance to talk today, and we don’t think this ban will be lifted in time for our workshop, and believe we need to cancel now, allowing everyone involved the chance to cancel their travel plans and recover their financial losses
as best as they can. Internet2, which managed registration, will issue full refunds. And our hotels, with whom our NYSERNet colleagues negotiated great rates, will allow cancelations at this juncture without penalties.
Each of you have spent so much time planning, advising, and prepping for this wonderful event that, with a genuinely heavy heart, I’m asking for your support for this difficult decision. I would like to write our registered attendees, and let them know we
have decided to cancel – with the support of our host RPI, Internet2, GÉANT, NYSERNet and, most importantly, the 2020 NPAPW Program Committee. Let me know your thoughts.
Thank you, and stay well everyone. Warm regards. -Ann
