In the little bit of poking I've done in this area already I've been
surprised 2-3 times.  Competitive horizontals unleash that good old zone
of chaos in the e2e tradition.  It may be that we'll find gazillion niche
cases rather than a single killer app.

  In fairness, there may be a small difference between my attitude and the
general I2 thrust.  I'm advocating a "let a 1000 flowers bloom" approach.
The last I looked I2 was more interested in everyone marching in the same
direction in a coordinated approach. Both attitudes are fine, IMO, but I
think the latter works better when there's a clear sense of what's wanted.
Now is the time to poke and prod.

  I think we'd offer our senior administrations a valuable gift if we
could tell them what's wanted, and by whom.  Almost anything that would
quell the jitters from significant market uncertainty would, again IMO,
be a major step in moving IP Comm toward broad deployability.
