Not necessarily, usenet has managed to cope well with this for years. You
could multicast the (large) dataset and cope with whatever data loss is
incurred at the receiving end with Parchive files. Create a (relatively
small) set of PAR2 files and place them on a webserver to be downloaded as
and when necessary by the receiving party to reconstruct any missing data.
