Whoops – looks like that event is actually next Friday.

I’m still patiently awaiting v6 mcast through our gigapop.

Perhaps tomorrows event (royal wedding) might support the cause in expanding interdomain/commercial mcast support.

A live event with a likely sizeable audience.

I’d like to see a world mcast day as well – v6 being preferred, but to include v4 if v6 is not a viable option.

Hi,

and the lecturer said " without multicast ipv6 is broken" ,

for the local LAN that is true - IPv6 uses multicast methods rather than
broadcasts for some of the local functions.....  for the wider WAN its not true -
I can get to IPv6 services on google etc just through standard unicast methods.

one day YouTube etc wont just use unicast to send streams...well, I can dream! ;-)

So where is ISOC World Multicast Day eh? ;)

Actually Embedded-RP multicast is pretty nice outside the LAN, and enabled widely in NREN networks.
