At yesterday's NTAC meeting, it was decided that the Multicast Working Group
will be changed to a Special Interest Group. Multicast has been fully
deployed in the backbone and many regional networks for years. There are
still some challenges within some campus networks especially inter domain
troubleshooting. The email list will not be changed and when there are new
projects and associated deliverables, it may be transitioned back to a
working group. An example of this would be a push to deploy IPv6 multicast.
