Alan, Thanks for the consolation.
I must say I will have my tail between my legs when I go home today...and then take two aspirins.
Just a dumb question, not that I plan on touching miniSAPserver for a while again, but when you remove "ip sap listen" from a router, does that mean that the clients will not see SAPs?
No, it just means that the router is not listening to SAP. This is really a blast from the very distant pass, and
was done for historical reasons dating back to the DVMRP days. Routers shouldn't listen to groups, applications should. Routers should route.

And if they can be so disruptive to create, what is their future?
They may be obsolete but they are sure handy for clients 'channel- surfing' with VLC, and there does not appear to be anything else on the horizon, though I did see a reference to SDP Next Generation (SDPng) somewhere.

My sincerest apologies, I did not thing it was possible to create so
much havoc with a little free program.
It's amazing the power of multicast to really screw things up:-) Don't
worry about it Frank. If nothing else, you caused 3 new people to
subscribe to this list and got a bunch of people to finally remove that
"ip sap listen" from their routers (including here, apparently, where I
thought it had already been done).
