I've tried to use the --repeat-cron flag with pScheduler in the past, but
every time I try to use it like the example you provided, the device states
that it failed to post the task due to an internal problem. I keep checking
the system logs to see what the issue is, but it doesn't provide a reason why
the test failed.

If you bump into that again, please drop me or the developers a line and we’ll help you troubleshoot it.  If you get an internal error like that, it’s going to be because of a problem the software didn’t anticipate.

I'm currently running perfSONAR Toolkit v4.4.1-1 on Ubuntu
18.04, would the version be a potential reason why the tests won't work with
--repeat-cron? The --repeat-cron function also doesn't work on other types of
tests (RTT, Latency, etc.).

Repeat-cron has been part of the system since 4.3.0, which was released last November.  It’s part of pScheduler’s core, so the kind of test you’re asking it to do won’t matter.  You will run into problems if you’re on a system that has it and trying to coordinate a test with an older one that doesn’t, but you should still be getting an error message that doesn’t require poking around the logs.
