Hi Jerome,

After changing the rrd database config file you should restart the service
(the tomcat instance in which it runs). Also make sure that the service is
able to find the correct config file (name, permissions...). The file name is
configured in perfSONAR-1.0/conf/service.properties.ma Look for the following
line:

service.ma.conf_file=/usr/local/etc/rrd-database_ISTF.xml

You certainly don't have to reinstall the service by using install.pl

You could avoid using eXist if you're not going to install LS. However, it's
higly recommended to use eXist for RRD MA as well, because it should provide
better overal performance of the service.

I haven't been able to correctly configure eXist through the install.pl
script. Instead, I've used the manual steps, described here:

http://monstera.man.poznan.pl/jra1-wiki/index.php/Installation_MA#XML_database_.28eXist.29_as_a_storage_for_rrd_configuration_file

and here:

http://wiki.perfsonar.net/jra1-wiki/index.php/Installation_LS_snapshot_2006-07-20#eXist_startup

In particular, if you'd like to use a text installer for eXist, you should
follow this procedure:

1) java -jar eXist-<version>.jar -p $EXIST_HOME
2)
http://wiki.perfsonar.net/jra1-wiki/index.php/Installation_LS_snapshot_2006-07-20#Step_5_-_Changing_default_port
3) ... and steps 6, 7, 8 (with modifications for the case of RRD MA, as
explained at the first URL above)

Kind regards,
Vedrin
