Well, the GUI builder I use (Netbeans) uses GroupLayout, new in Java 6. 
I can modify all the instances, but I prefer to use a GUI builder for 
the view of the application. By the time our plugin really becomes 
usefull java 7.0 will be out, so I think it will be okay by then - how 
many people are still using java 4 now? Otherwise we create a different 
build file for the plugin. But if you really want I can remove the 
grouplayout stuff.
