Most of the implementations seem to be using Oracle or MySQL with acceptable
performance, that's the only reason.

Karthik,

Thanks! That is good to know.
Do you have any particular leanings toward Oracle or MySQL at this point?

Thanks,
Carl

Hi Carl,
We at UCLA have been using MS Sql Server for almost a year now and we have
had a lot performance issues, we also observed that there was a data type
inconsistencies (for most of the queries the data type nvarchar is currently
being converted to varchar causing index suppressions which further results
in table scans). We fined tuned our DB but still do not have an acceptable
performance while loading our 1.7 million memberships. Based on my experience
I would not recommend MS Sql Server, In fact we are planning to switch to
Oracle or MySql soon.

Thanks,
Karthik

At Lafayette College, we are gearing up to do a limited Grouper pilot. One
of the questions that has come up during planning is, "What kind of database
backend are folks actually using with Grouper?" I'd be interested in knowing
a bit about the type of databases deployed in production Grouper settings,
and something that would give us an idea about the scale of the subjects,
groups, and memberships being managed. This information would be useful for
us as a starting point.

Thanks,
