as the perpetrator of this question, I would agree with Claudio that the pre/post sessions are helpful. Using myself as an example, It has been really beneficial over the past four years of my attendance to get to participate and interact with all attendees so separating into tracks would diminish the experience in my view. That said, the workshop has grown in just a short period that I’ve been involved and we might take a little bit of a hybrid approach if it gets much bigger. That being, having a couple of dual-track sessions over the course of the workshop that address novice users and advanced or developers. I think my aim was just to be able to have a session that addresses persons new to this sphere of technology, the chance to have hands-on experience working with the hardware and software with the Inventors/developers. This would be more effective PRE-session ( along with Justin’s great intro talk) in my opinion. Something to think about for our next conversation.

no, an we usually considered this not a good idea, given the small number of participants and the complex of orgnizing this. We opted for "pre or post" specific sessions, so people not interested, coyld just "not stay/arrive" for them. I still think this is a better option than parallel/separate tracks.

the first morning tutorial has proven very successfull... I'd continue with it.

I'm a 'maker' rather than a technologist but I've found that understanding how the technology works, the limitations and benefits of each system, has been vital to my own understanding of what work I can make and how far I can push the limits of the tech. I've relied on great technicians to make the work I've been involved with but I've found that I need to know what I can expect in order to plan and execute each project.

If that’s something to pursue, I might recommend a structured curriculum that begins with short explorations of production elements (video, audio and lighting) and their relationship to our networking tools and then moves into demos of full setups of solutions like Domenico suggested. In my opinion, having some general understanding of the impact of production elements before you get ‘in the box’ is essential (and purposeful knowledge generally for artists in their lives). Those aspects have the potential to improve or completely ruin and technology’s use. It makes diagnosing issues easier as well.
