Exactly! Wouldn't it be nice if Identity Assurance were
presented as part of presence??? Is it possible to convince
people to extend presence info to include IA info? I think
this would be a HUGE contribution to the internet as a whole.

One somewhat compelling use case that was discussed recently is
the use of a federated authorization system to construct members-
only (eg. PIC/Internet2 members-only) chat rooms.
