Sorry, I have not been following the thread for a while. Just catching
up on the last few messages. To answer a few of the questions:
The version of Session that will be made available supports:
Audio - G.711, G.722, G.723, GSM
Video - h.261/h.263 (cif & qcif), wavelet (320x240 & 160x120)
IM - SIMPLE
Presence - close, but won't be available in this UA version.
As to how you want to position voice and video, with the IM, presence
functionality ... I support whatever decision you make based on the
operating environment and constraints you have. From our experience
last fall, voice worked fine at times but was subject to rather severe
packet loss during peak network usage. This problem seemed to be
associated with wireless users as wired users weren't subject to the
oversubscribed shared network media problem.
Regards,
Jeff

Right. Couldn't we still encourage those interested in audio and video
conferencing to try Session, not as part of the Location Services demo
but as part of IC in general? The message is "Here's a quality, cross
platform tool that does audio and video conferencing well, and may do
SIMPLE-based IM soon."
Jeff from WaveThree is probably listening in, right?
Jeff? What do you think.

So do more focused voice communications as part of a separate gathering?
