In practice we've done IPv6 multicast at the meeting once, essentially as a 
technology demo (look, we can do it!).  

Given budgetary constraints (we need 25 switches), holding out for MLD 
snooping as a must-have feature doesn't seem like a great idea. 

If we need v6 multicast for a particular demonstration we will of course 
provide the room in question with a switch capable of mld snooping, or 
provision it on its own vlan, etc.  

to be honest, v4 multicast doesn't show up at Member Meetings much either.  
We still source multicast video of the netcast but that's essentially the 
only usage we've seen at the last several meetings.

My personal opinion is that inter-domain multicast is dying, and I will be 
surprised if there is much v6 inter-domain multicast uptake.  Maybe I'm 
wrong.  

For the record, what all switch vendors do MLD snooping nowadays?   And of 
course, which ones do it correctly?

Presumably cisco still does it (last i checked it required the "advanced ip" 
software license).

Looks like the higher-end procurves do it (roughly, this means 2900 and up).  

There's mention on allied telesis's web site that they do it in software.  

Would it be useful to put up a wiki for this information?
