I wanted to give this list an update on this thread.

I have had some really good interactions via Cyndi Jung of 3Com. She
provided KU a prelease (I guess you could call it gamma code) for the 3300
unit which was expected to fix the mcast traffic management issue I had
identified and also some other issues I had note observed as of yet.
Every test I could work up validated this new prerelease code. This code
had a rev level encoding of 2.51i.

So those out there with 3Com 3300 units and expecting to do mcast with
IGMP snooping (aka. 3Com IGMP Multicast Learning mode), I would really
encourage you to be on the look out for 3Com's official release of these
code fixes.

[btw, steve wallace would appreciate this... it basically looks from a
"black-box" analysis standpoint like the fix in this code include: only
sending igmp membership and leave reports out the mcast router port
thereby controlling the igmp supression algorithm; and, apparently tuning
some igmp leave processing issues to be effectively MAC table sensitive
not just port/box sensitive.]
