great! Thanks for your effort and providing your patch.
I hope it will be integrated into the official code base, soon.

I just close before upgrading one of our productive IdPs to 2.2
Probably I go on with the test system using your patch.

I don't looked at the code. But I had last week an similar issue with
slf4j concerning API changes 1.5/1.6. It was enough to assure the the
whole slf4j /slf4j-over-* library stack is on the same release (1.6).
