You still might consider running the test as-is across the wireless link
since the inability to establish a control connection is as good an indicator
of 100% packet loss as actual packet loss.
If you’re looking to monitor link quality and the wireless interfaces are
directly attached to the host, the Linux kernel makes a bunch of information
available that would be helpful. perfSONAR doesn’t support that at the
moment, but there are some changes in the pipeline slated for later this year
that will allow that kind of custom testing.
