My findings thus far indicate that this is an issue between the hardware and CentOS 6. When installing the PerfSONAR toolkit (built on CentOS 6) I get the error message I got before. When I attempt to install vanilla CentOS 6, I can't other errors and often can't get through to the installer.

I have had success in getting CentOS 7 installed, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and Debian 8 installed without issue. I was then able to get the PerfSONAR files loaded onto Debian 8, but have since found out that the Web UI is only supported on Debian 7, Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 14.04 server, and Centos 6 / RHEL 6.

What would you suggest I use: Debian 7 or Ubuntu 14.04? I was leaning more towards Debian 7, but I don't know how much longer that version will have support. Anyone have any luck getting PerfSONAR working on CentOS 7?

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Hi Zach,

Sorry to hear that you’re having trouble. Starting off easy - have you verified the md5 of the download with the posted one? It’s possible that some parts of either the “burn” or the download got corrupted.

Hi,

I have downloaded pS-Toolkit-3.5.1-FullInstall-x86_65-2016Mar03.iso and installed that onto a USB thumb drive. I have a SuperMicro (Model# 512-3, Part# 5018D-MF) server which I am attempting to install PerfSONAR onto. I am able to boot from the UBS drive and go through the install process without issue until the end when I get the following error message:

"Unable to read group information from repositories. This is a problem with the generation of your install tree"

When I reboot to the main HD, I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.

Has anyone else run into this issue? Does anyone have any suggestions on how to install the toolkit properly? I've even tried installing plain CentOS 6 and I couldn't get the installer to even load.

Thoughts?
Thanks,
