Hi Gaetano,

Besides the port ranges, you will need to have the port of bwctl daemon 4823.

Here is the proper information about firewalling http://www.perfsonar.net/deploy/security-considerations/

And specifically on your inquiry:

BWCTL

TCP

4823

Incoming/Outgoing

TCP/UDP

Edit /etc/bwctld/bwctld.conf, set peer_port to a range of values, open the TCP port for these values. It is recommended that 6001-6200 be used for this variable.

TCP/UDP

(N.B. These instructions apply to v1.5.2 and greater of BWCT). Edit /etc/bwctld/bwctld.conf and set 'test_port' to a specific range, and open the TCP/UDP ports for those ranges. It is recommended that 5001-5900 be used.

And if you need to be able to perform measurements through a web UI, you should forward the TCP 443 port and/or TCP 8090 also.

Best regards,

Ivan

Subject: [perfsonar-user] Port forwarding

Dear all,

supposing I want to configure a bwctl node behind a router, which ports should I forward?

Currently the bwctld.conf contains the following lines

peer_port 6001-6200

test_port 5001-5900

I assume these are the port ranges that I should insert in the proper port forwarding section of the router configuration, as well as the 4823 which is the main control port.

Am I correct?

Thank you for your patience

Gaetano
