Not inexpensive, but I generally consider Vaddio the leader for this particular application (see Vaddio ClearVIEW HD-USB). 

Of course, if you only want zoom and don't need PTZ, you may be able to accomplish that less expensively with digital zoom (as opposed to optical).

I will save you the reiteration of my cautions about the quality of the experience you can expect from a laptop based solution - you can achieve good quality but it can take non-trivial effort.
