Hi,

maybe I'm wrong in my guess, but did you "extends GroupHooks" which is 
available after
import edu.internet2.middleware.grouper.hooks.GroupHooks; ?

See my last mail how to do this, here's the snippet:
public class UnixGroupHook extends GroupHooks { ... }
