How would the Working Group feel about revisiting the issue of which version of Grouper ought to introduce transaction log or change log capabilities? --Keith

Has SPML been considered as a possible base connector format for provisioning targets?

I hadn't considered SPML yet but then I wasn't aware of it until
your message. And, as I haven't managed to read through all of the
SPML docs yet, if someone more familiar with it has an opinion I'd
be interested in hearing it.

blair.

A transaction log or change log capability was deliberately omitted from the specs for the Grouper API at least through v1.0 (I strongly desired it to be in, but the weight of the working group at the time went the other way). As a consequence, provisioning conectors are left with the task of logical diff'ing to determine what incremental changes to make to their targets. Does this fact overly complicate the design for an SPML based connector format? To do the diff'ing it might already have to reach through to target-specific communication protocols and data representations...
