Congratulations to Grouper Project Chair Chris Hyzer for swimming halfway across the English Channel. Chris swam for 8 hours and for about 13 miles.

Grouper 2.2.2

Goal is to release Grouper 2.2.2. prior to the 2015 Technology  Exchange (early Oct.)

This release incorporates about 40 patches. as listed on the Grouper Release Notes page.

Goal: release of Grouper 2.2.2 by Wed. Sept. 23

Chris working on status servlet.

It has problems when loader jobs not configured correctly

Patch dependencies can get complex

Don’t want to maintain multiple versions in the demo server

Upgrade to Grouper 2.2.2. will be low-risk

This will benefit maven developers & users

Q: Will there be a path from 2.1 to 2.2.2?

A: Yes

Strategy after release of 2.2.2

The Grouper team has been quite responsive to requests for enhancements and has created multiple patches.

Moving forward, we need to spend less time on enhancements and patches

and focus the work on Grouper 2.3

Grouper Roadmap

Vivek interested in working on Elastic search

Jim has worked on this

Chris: live privileges would need to be taken into account while working on elastic privileges

Jim: agreed that privileges and effective memberships are complex when looking at elastic search

• There were 5 issues, 4 of 5 are resolved

Brown snapshot too old, Oracle error

• Shilen: single query caused the error.

• they decided to move the groups, to cause less churn

• It seemed to be a database issue

Grouper demo server authn with google

• Shilen handled these issues

Read only/Viewonly admin

• Chris created a patch

• Hope that’s useful to others

Progress dots on installer

• Chris : progress dots only printed out on certain things now and that solved

Oracle charset issues on startup

• Can be handled in Grouper Properties

Grouper and Regroup

• Regroup is for Emergency Notifications

• They have hundreds of HE clients

• Chris sent email to Grouper-users list regarding this
  

PIT tables and change log consumer

• Shilen: There can be an issue with bottleneck using a single thread.

• Brown has noticed this.

• Concern that multiple threads can lead to things out of order.

• Q: Chris; are there ways to provision that skip the change log.. such as using hooks?

• A: Shilen: might work, risk of double changes?
