Hi Jesse,

Mark's summary is good -- BuddyCloud is basically a way to do federated
activity streams. It just happens to use XMPP as its underlying
technology for federation, with a web front end.

As to their profit model, you could ask Simon Tennant, who was on the
call the other day. I've cc'd him here.
