- Date: Tue, 26 Jul 2011 09:23:51 -0400
Attendees: Jesse Thompson, Elaine Lauerman, Tim Callahan, Deke Kassabian - Make it a special interest group - Scott Brim isn't at Cisco any longer so we won't be able to take advantage of Cisco participating - We want a community engagement discussion (like a round table discussion) - Possible speakers:
Topics - Justin web RTC (voice and video chat) - Persuade Peter St. Andre to attend (Tim requested VC on the meeting form just in case) - Deke's thoughts on Google+. Chat interoperating with different systems - Next steps, development of our "communications bridge" proof of concept. - Google+ has quickly gained a lot of momentum and many users. Is there interest in a PIC pilot/development project (like we did for Wave?) If so, what would you like to see, especially as a community? - UPenn is interested in this - UM is about to be a Google school (looking for collaboration solutions, transitioning campus mail system, real-time messaging) UM is looking for ways to consolidate staff and save money due to slashed funds. University of Wisconsin hosts 250 domains, a lot of departments will refuse to use Google. Next call topics: - We hope to invite Justin Uberti to one of our calls. What conversations would you like to have with Google's Real-time Communications Tech Lead? We need a topic/question/discussion list. Please share your suggestions (If you can't make today's call, continue the email thread...) - Interoperability with existing (campus) XMPP based services - Profiles for edu's? It's currently only for "individuals"; what suggestions do WE have (focus on real-time communications) - Can/Should/Impact of: schools using the same properties as individuals, such as circles? i.e., peer institutions, "all Big 10 schools", etc. Consider how this could affect/enable group video conferencing across institutions for users, departments, IT, regional EDU efforts, K20, etc. (so back to the interoperability question...) - Talk about a pilot project, direct collaboration with Google (value, objectives, participants/pilot schools, etc.) NEXT CALL AUGUST 4TH AT 4PM - JOIN US! -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
