The interest for iPhone groupchat has come up several times in our calls.

 

We haven’t found a client yet but, I found that Beejive hints it is coming (per  the last several months on their boards)  http://www.beejive.com/support/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=273

 

Sep 29  “Unfortunately we don't currently support Jabber chat rooms on the iPhone native app.

This is coming soon however, as we will be adding group chat capabilities and joining Jabber chat rooms will be included in that.”

Nov 17 “We're shooting for January”

Jan 10, 2009 “Chat rooms are not supported yet, but will be added at some point. No ETA on them just yet.”

 

So, I guess they are hard to implement- but at least other users are active in asking for the feature.

I was pretty happy with the group-less Beejive client for WindowsMobile, so hopefully they’ll do well with adding the rooms.
