what mime type should be given to .sdp files in apache?
When you click on Media:Multicast1.sdp in
http://nutmeg.conncoll.edu/wiki/index.php/Multicast_testing
I have been using application/sdp as the mime type. You can test that here: https://gustv.gac.edu/sdpfiles/arena.sdp If I have the quicktime plug in installed, that is what usually opens it but I can tell VLC to open those files instead.

Thanks, will try it. Someone also suggested using application/x-sdp

SECOND
I can receive the stream fine in VLC when I download it and drag it in the playlist, but is there any syntax to use in the Add Network (WinXP) or Open Network (OSX) dialog boxes? I tried a lot of variations, but nothing worked.
Can someone that is multicast-enabled try to download the file and see it if will play?
On my Mac, I can choolse File -> Open File and paste in the sdp files URL and it works.

Thanks again!

THIRD (will reserve the miniSAPserver questions for later)
Is the sdp syntax that Wirecast creates for the file something that VLC can understand, or should I write my own?

Yes the sdp file that Wirecast creates works with VLC. I know in the past I have had Wirecast export the sdp file and then I upload it to our server and it works.

I guess to me the remaining challenges, for this phase, is if there is any way to enter the multicast IP and port directly in VLC's File>Open Network, or Add>URL>Network (WinXP) dialog. For example, the H.264 multicast is on IP 233.88.214.139, audio port 5432, video port 5434, but there does not seem any entries that work. Is the video port supposed to be lower than the audio port?

Posting to wg-multicast so I don't bother anyone for more testing of the sdp.
