I started doing a lot of multicast testing a few months ago, but got derailed with other jobs, and now I am re-starting from scratch.
My goal is to use either QT Player or VLC as a client for Wirecast encoded live multicast h.264 streams, with SAP discovery using miniSAPserver.

But, one problem at a time...
FIRST
what mime type should be given to .sdp files in apache?
When you click on Media:Multicast1.sdp in
http://nutmeg.conncoll.edu/wiki/index.php/Multicast_testing

I get a text file in Safari and Firefox on the Mac, but the movie plays fine in QuickTime in IE7 on WinXP.
Right now, no mime type is assigned in apache.

SECOND
I can receive the stream fine in VLC when I download it and drag it in the playlist, but is there any syntax to use in the Add Network (WinXP) or Open Network (OSX) dialog boxes? I tried a lot of variations, but nothing worked.
Can someone that is multicast-enabled try to download the file and see it if will play?

THIRD (will reserve the miniSAPserver questions for later)
Is the sdp syntax that Wirecast creates for the file something that VLC can understand, or should I write my own?
This stream is (sorry for the poor compression, using canned setting to minimize variables):

v=0
o=- 453902653 453902653 IN IP4 127.0.0.0
s=Wirecast
t=0 0

m=audio 5432 RTP/AVP 96
c=IN IP4 233.88.214.139/100/1

a=fmtp:96 profile-level-id=15;mode=AAC- hbr;sizelength=13;indexlength=3;indexdeltalength=3;config=1290

a=cliprect:0,0,240,320
a=framesize:97 320-240
b=AS:220

If anyone can answer any of the above, I would be appreciative.
I am cross-posting to the QuickTime Streaming Server list.
