It can, at least in Cisco's implementation. "ip msdp
ttl-threshold <neighbor> <threshold>".

It's not entirely clear what TTL is being used, but I bet it's
pretty high (same as default TTL for unicast, I guess?).

Furthermore, the usage of these multicast discovery protocols
will probably push us to form several internal PIM-SM domains,
where the PIM-SM domains are more congruent with "Novell server
installation area" instead of being our entire AS (as it
currently is), since the initial packets travel up to the RP
(encapsulated) more or less irrespective of any "ip multicast
boundary <nn>" settings on any physical interface in-between.
Some might think this is a bug -- I've not made up my mind on
that one yet.
