We're testing a patch right now that would upgrade both vt-ldap and 
commons-pool in the rel-1 branch of shib-common.
Chad, what are your concerns with applying this patch for a 2.1.x release?
It's not much different from what is provided in SC-73, except we 
continue to leverage commons-pool rather than the new vt-ldap pool.
