Thanks for getting back to me. When you say deploy, I'm not quite sure what 
you mean, do you mean we would be acting as a service provider - this would 
not be the case. We would only be using the windows 20003 x64 server for the 
IDP.

The first question is whether you intended to deploy the 64 bit version
of Windows.  If not then the answer is yes, this will work, no problem.
  Otherwise....

The IdP is just a Java webapp; the normal deployment stack being a JVM,
Apache webserver, and Tomcat.  I know that Sun has JVMs for 64-bit Win
2003.  Apache, however, does not.  So you'd need to consider running
Tomcat behind IIS, or in a standalone mode.  Running behind IIS is the
easiest and if you take a look at the user list archives for Sept and
Oct you'll see some traffic on doing that.
