I'd love for the A-Select guys to set me straight on this, but my interpretation of the descriptions I've seen so far is that this functionality is implemented by caching passwords at the IdP, sending passwords as attributes to the SP, and then delivering the passwords to the OWA login dll. Is that right? I imagine that many users will not see regard this as a general purpose solution.

Hi Bart, Scott, Chad, Steven and others

Many thanks for progressing this discussion. There's seems to be some
interest in this area (Nottingham Trent University express a similar
interest on the JISC Shibboleth list) and I'd be grateful for any
pointers too so that we can make use of shibboleth/A-Select as suggested
to address a real and pressing need.

If anyone has a contact at Microsoft I would be happy to email them
about our requirements

Thanks again

James

SURFnet has "A-Select enabled" the MS Sharepoint and OWA. It
works very well.

Great, I think we have the answer then, just need a pointer to this API,
wherever it lives. Frankly, even just the docs that MS provided would
probably be sufficient.

Surely this is/means no Shibbolizing (yet), but it proves
that it can be done for a WebISO system.

Shibboleth being one, I think we're there.

We're trying to get in contact with MS Redmond too, in order to
A-Select
enable their MS products in a more structural way. We have close
contact
with MS Netherlands for about 1.5 years, but they are more into sales
but try to help us where possible.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Microsoft is going to support
anything
but WS-Fed and/or some new InfoCard-related approaches anytime soon.
