Hi Nate,

With the release of 1.3 imminent, I want to give you a brief heads-up  
on the endorsement situation so that you can update any necessary  
documentation.  The IdP should work well under both JDK 1.4.x and JDK  
1.5, but the configuration issues differ slightly.

-JDK 1.5

If a site is using JDK 1.5, we want to recommend that they use tomcat  
5.5.x.  This configuration does NOT require any special endorsement  
of XML libraries to work properly.

-JDK 1.4..x

If a site is using JDK 1.4.x, we want recommend that they use tomcat  
5.0.x.  This configuration requires that the site endorse the JAXP  
1.3 libraries for both the web application and the command line  
tools.  To endorse tomcat, the site should delete everything under  
$TOMCAT_HOME/common/endorsed/ and then copy all .jar files from the  
endorsed directory of the installation package into $TOMCAT_HOME/ 
common/endorsed/.  To endorse the command line tools, they should  
copy the endorsed directory to $IDP_HOME.
