The .sso thing is the same as .shire was before, so you may need to edit
your Apache config in some fashion. If it's 2.0, though, it generally works
without much trouble.

I don't test with absolute URLs much, but that code is still there from 1.2.
If /Shibboleth.sso or https:///Shibboleth.sso work any better, let me know.
They should be equivalent in most cases.

Any time it's failing to handle the request inside mod_shib, something isn't
being mapped quite right.
