Ken or somebody, can you update about planned milestones for the OpenSAML 2.0? Or any other (open) SAML 2.0 implementations?

I don't think we have any announced milestones. Now that the SAML 2.0 spec is done, work can proceed on adding SAML 2.0 support to opensaml and to Shib, but at the moment the priority is a next release (1.3) that will still use SAML 1.1 (and 1.0 even, for US Fed e-auth interop). I think the plan is to have some SAML 2.0 support available for use from CVS so folks who want to build on it can start testing. I'm sure Scott can provide more info.

Let me add a bit more information about timelines. We expect that shib v1.3 will be generally available in April, 2005. After that, we *may* start on WS-Fed interoperability (we have previously announced a joint project with microsoft in this area).

We will also be starting to add support for SAML2.0 to Shibboleth. We are committed to extending Shibboleth to support SAML 2.0. The SAML 2.0 specification is large... very large. Our recent conversations have been exploring the idea of an "interim release" that would contain the SAML 2 features that our community feels are most important. We've mentioned an early autumn date for the availability of this interim release. Obviously, though, there will be a relationship between how much (or how little) it contains, and when it is available. This interim release would be followed some time later by a release that fully supports SAML 2.

We'd be interested in comments and feedback about this approach, and thoughts about the content of an interim release.

Once we start work on SAML 2, we'd certainly like to talk to you about your recent work.
