One alternative is "RT" (www.fsck.com/projects/rt/). A number of
collegues use it, and the creator is a friend who lives about 4 blocks
away. However, I've never actually set it up, and supposedly setting
up RT (or bugzilla) is a lot of work.

Well, I've used bugzilla for an active development product (Gnucash)
and it has been EXTREMELY useful to keep track of issues.
