Hi Phil,

Hmmm run a a “dnf clean all” maybe? I ran the install last night without issue and those two RPMs you mentioned are the only ones that are updated. The last two messages you can ignore since it was falling back to old packages, not sure why it would complain about missing python-pyjq since it is in the repo and has been since initial 5.0.5 release: https://linux.mirrors.es.net/perfsonar/el9/x86_64/5.0.5/packages/python-pyjq-2.4.0-2.el9.x86_64.rpm

Thanks,
Andy

Andy,

Thanks, I really appreciate your attention to this niggly issue.

However, I'm not sure we're out of the woods yet (though I might just be impatient and more updates may be bubbling through).  Your email and github issue focus on the nagios rpm.  Was that the only update needed?

If so, I'm still getting this:

$ sudo dnf install maddash -y
Last metadata expiration check: 0:32:04 ago on Wed 04 Oct 2023 03:34:00 PM PDT.
Error:
 Problem: conflicting requests
  - package maddash-5.0.5-1.el9.noarch from perfSONAR requires nagios-plugins-perfsonar, but none of the providers can be installed
  - package nagios-plugins-perfsonar-5.0.5-2.el9.x86_64 from perfSONAR requires python-pyjq, but none of the providers can be installed
  - nothing provides python3-pscheduler needed by nagios-plugins-perfsonar-5.0.5-1.el9.x86_64 from perfSONAR
  - nothing provides python(abi) = 3.9 needed by python-pyjq-2.4.0-2.el9.x86_64 from perfSONAR

So far the only updates n the perfSONAR REPO list of RPMS are:
nagios-plugins-perfsonar-5.0.5-2.el9.x86_64.rpm
perl-Nagios-Plugin-0.36-1.el9.noarch.rpm

If I need to just wait, great, I'll keep checking but if there is more todo I wanted to let you know soonest!

Phil

Hi Phil,

New EL9 packages were uploaded that should fix the MaDDash install issue.

Thanks,
Andy

Hi Phil,

This only affects MaDDash’s on EL9. I ran into this while testing 5.0.5 packages and created an issue on it earlier this week: https://github.com/perfsonar/nagios/issues/22

Per the issue, there are two things in the nagios package that need fixing. One is just a difference in package naming between the OSes and is an easy fix in the spec. For the other it looks like we have to build perl(Nagios::Plugin) and any dependencies on our own for EL9. Didn’t want to block 5.0.5 on that, but will probably do a 5.0.5-2 of just those packages on EL9. Likely won’t be today but hopefully won’t leave you waiting too long.

Thanks,
Andy
