Yes, it has.  We wrote that in 2015 or 2016, so the situation has changed.

 

The other reason we don’t support it is that there aren’t any tools that can take advantage of PTP-capable NICs to time tag packets on their way out and in.  That would get you a very-accurate latency figure, especially at much-shorter distances than the ~50 km minimum we get with an NTP-disciplined system clock.  Unfortunately, the perfSONAR team doesn’t have the cycles to develop those tools, but we’re happy to integrate them once they exist.
