issues with some mirroring software which gets confused if there are
multiple identical copies of a package in the same repository.

Could you please straighten this out and only put one directory into the

There are symbolic links in the repository to support backward compatibility with an older version of our YUM configuration.  This has been in place for quite some time and we haven’t had reports of it causing problems.  Andy Lake is looking into whether or not we’re far-enough out from the YUM change to remove it.  In any case, this stuff has been in place for quite some time and isn’t causing any problems.

Most of our mirrors use rsync, which handles the symlinks correctly.  If you’re mirroring the repository using some other method, drop me a line off-list and I’ll get your system authorized to use our rsync server.
